Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns
Reducing the amount of waste generated is one of the main requirements for achieving responsible production. Nuclear fuel required for nuclear energy is the most energy-intensive in comparison with other sources of electricity: 630 grams of uranium is comparable to 70 tons of coal in terms of energy. Thus, after generating the same amount of energy, nuclear power leaves behind 126 grams of spent nuclear fuel, while coal produces 14 tons of waste.
